Monday 30 June 2025 Year 5b at Forest School (Summer 2) Year 5b used pizza dough to make their own breadsticks to cook on the fire. They also made weaving frames using sticks and wool. The class collected natural materials such as flowers and leaves to weave through their frames.

Monday 30 June 2025 Year 3/4 at Forest School (Summer 2) Year 3/4 made their own breadsticks using pizza dough, and cooked them on the fire. They also made weaving frames using sticks and wool. The class then collected natural materials such as leaves, flowers and grass, to thread though their frames.

Monday 30 June 2025 Year 5a at Forest School (Summer 2) This Half Term Year 5a made breadsticks. They wrapped pizza dough around a kebab stick and cooked the bread over the fire. They also did some natural weaving using a frame made from sticks, wool and natural materials thread through.

Monday 30 June 2025 Year 2 at Forest School (Summer 1) In Summer 1 Term, Year 2 helped tidy up the Forest School area by safely using secateurs to trim back overgrown areas. They also identified which tress we have at Forest School by collecting leaves and using an identification sheet. They used stampers to make pretty patterns in the leaves they collected.

Monday 30 June 2025 Athletics On Friday, the children represented Wardley Primary at the annual athletics festival held at Gateshead International stadium. Though there was a bit of rain around, the children gave it their best.

Friday 27 June 2025 Year 4 Mythology In art, Year 4 have been exploring mythology and collage work. Through the story of the Lambton worm, the children have created their own slaying of the beast.

Friday 27 June 2025 Year 4 trip to Tynemouth On Monday 23rd June, the Year 4 cohort spent a wonderful day down at Tynemouth. This was part of their geography and English topics this term. Though the day started a bit cloudy, after a brisk walk the sun came out and they had a fantastic play on the beach.

Friday 20 June 2025 Year 6 DT Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed their DT topic this week making bread. After tasting a variety of different types, they followed a recipe to make bagels. The children worked together to follow the recipe, measuring out the ingredients and kneading the dough. Once the bagels were cooked, the children thought about what healthy fillings they would like to use and chopped and grated the ingredients. Once assembled, the children were able to enjoy their delicious creations. They went down a treat!

Wednesday 18 June 2025 Wardley Sports day 2025 On Friday 13th, Wardley hosted our annual sports day with the support of the wonderful NUFC Foundation and Shay. It was a really successful day with children competing in a range of events that highlight the skills they have learnt across the year.

Tuesday 17 June 2025 Bagels Today, Year 5b have been baking bagels as part of their DT lessons. First we began with a taste test of different types of bread to decide what we liked. The children then planned what they would make, before learning how to make a simple dough. They worked together and practised their measuring and mixing skills. They shaped their own bagels before baking them and then once they were ready, they prepared their own fillings before assembling them.

Tuesday 17 June 2025 Visit to Gibside School 2025 Miss Oliphant's class went to visit Gibside School and everyone had a fantastic time. The children loved going on the climbing wall and they were so proud of how high they managed to climb. Some of them felt nervous at first but they came out of their comfort zone and did not give up. They really enjoyed playing seated volleyball with their friends. Here are some of the children's comments:

Friday 13 June 2025 Nursery at Forest School (Summer 1) Nursery worked really hard to make Forest School clean and tidy by collecting any rubbish they could find using litter pickers. They also dug the soil in the vegetable beds ready for vegetables to be planted.

Monday 2 June 2025 Year 1b at Forest School (Summer 1) Year 1b got creative mud painting and stamping patterns in leaves they had collected to help them identify which trees are at Forest School. They also safely trimmed back the overgrown areas using secateurs.

Monday 2 June 2025 Year 1a at Forest School (Summer 1) Year 1a worked hard to safely cut back the overgrown areas of Forest School using secateurs. They also identified trees by their leaves, and got creative stamping patterns in their leaves and mud painting.

Monday 2 June 2025 Reception at Forest School (Summer 1) Reception's turn at Forest School included carrying out some maintenance of the site. Due to the sunny weather a lot of the tree branches and bushes had grown over the paths. Reception safely used secateurs to trim back the overgrown areas to make Forest School look tidy again.

Monday 2 June 2025 Year 4 at Forest School (Summer 1) In their Forest School session, Year 4 split wood ready for the fire using a bill hook and a mallet. They found out about woodland animals, and made their own bird feeders.

Friday 23 May 2025 RE in 1b - Shabbat This half term, we have been learning about the Jewish celebration Shabbat. We learnt that Shabbat is a way for Jewish families to remember the story of Creation through rest, prayer and family time. Some families may light candles and say a blessing, drink from Kiddish cups and have Challah bread on the table. We created our own Shabbat experience in the classroom and designed our own Kiddish cups!

Friday 16 May 2025 Year 3/4 make healthy sandwiches Year 3/4 have been making healthy sandwiches. After tasting various packaged sandwiches, they practised their chopping, grating, slicing and peeling skills. They designed a healthy sandwich based on different ingredients from the Eatwell guide. The children then made their own sandwich and, most importantly, enjoyed eating them.

Wednesday 14 May 2025 Year 1a P.E This Half Term Miss Fraser's class have been learning about running in P.E. They have practised different techniques of running and how to position each part of their body so they are able to run as fast as they can.

Wednesday 7 May 2025 Spring 2 - celebration assembly At the end of another amazing term, we celebrated the success of many children and their incredibly hard work across the curriculum. From huge improvements in maths through to incredible words read. Awesome music and fluent French. These children impress us every single term.

Friday 11 April 2025 Nursery's Easter Stay and Play This week we welcomed our parents into school to share some wonderful Easter activities. We had a lovely time making playdough nests, rolling Easter eggs down ramps and making patterns on Easter egg shaped paper.

Wednesday 9 April 2025 Year 5b Arbeia Trip On Friday, Year 5b visited the Arbeia Roman Fort in South Shields to end our learning on the Romans in Britain. The children learnt all about the main purpose of the fort and how the Roman soldiers would have lived whilst based there. They learnt about why the fort was situated where is was and how it would have been defended. The children really enjoyed our visit and having the opportunity to see what we have been learning about in real life.
