Year 6a - Kandinsky
In Year 6, we have been covering the topic of displacement within art and focussing on artists who have been forced to leave their home countries. We began by looking at work created by Kurt Schwitter and then attempted to use a range of materials to create similar collages using Schwitter's work as inspiration. Following this, we then moved onto studying Wassily Kandinsky, an artist who suffered from Synesthesia (a condition whereby someone sees colour when they hear sounds). The children then created their own artwork pieces in the style of Kandinsky.
