Reading for Pleasure Year 1a

This week, we had a meeting to discuss the key reading messages in Year 1 and then we introduced our adults and carers to ‘Reading Rivers’. A reading river is a record of anything and everything that a child reads over a period of time for example; door numbers, road signs, cereal boxes.

We then spent the rest of the session sharing a variety of reading materials that included fiction, non-fiction, biographies and poetry texts to allow us to begin our reading rivers. The reading rivers are going to be completed at home and brought back into and we are very excited to see all of the wonderful reading the children have been doing.
